It was a submission with a rear naked chokehold in the first round of the women’s bantamweight champion bout on Saturday that sealed it. Miesha Tate‘s brief spell as champ is over. Brazilian powerhouse Amanda Nunes is the new champion. But for how long? Only it seems that no one likes keeping that belt for too long anymore…
Since Ronda Rousey lost to Holly Holm, the belt’s been a hot potato. Holm barely found a place to keep it at home before she handed it over to Tate. And now the belt’s heading home with Nunes.
She becomes not only the first female Brazilian to be a UFC champion, she’s also the first openly gay UFC champion in its history.
So, like the UFC say… It looks like Brazil have got themselves yet ANOTHER MMA champion!
