New York City, New York. A rap concert at Irving Plaza descended into panic and chaos after a shooting that saw three people go to hospital and one to the morgue. Shots were fired during rapper TI‘s performance and it soon became clear that people were badly hurt.
A 34 year-old man was shot square in the chest. Two others – a 26 year-old woman and a 30 year-old man – were both shot in the leg. And sadly, a 33 year-old man was shot in the stomach and later died.
New York City Police Department Commissioner William Bratton stirred up controversy afterwards by saying this to the media: “When you talk about clowns, knuckleheads, it’s unfortunate that still in the gangster rap world that that’s what you’re dealing with – the gangster lifestyle if you will.”
