This Is What It’s Like To Trip On LSD…

Drugs. They’ve been about in various forms for a long, long time. But plenty of drugs – the chemically created ones, at least – are pretty new. LSD, for instance. ‘Lysergic acid diethylamide’ – otherwise known as ‘acid’ – is a hallucinogen. A psychotic that makes you ‘trip’. And it’s only really been about since the 1960’s.

Conceived as a truth serum, the original idea was that LSD would be used as a weapon by the CIA. The Agency soon realized that it didn’t actually work all that effectively as truth juice. But it was good at chilling people out, making them lazy and making them forget to do things. Like protest. So it was the perfect weapon, after all. Especially in the 1960’s, when the CIA would target protesters, academics, anti-establishment entertainment figures and civil rights activists.

Soon, acid leaked everywhere and became the drug of choice for the ‘hippies’. Taken for too long, trips get worse and worse. Eventually all you have are bad trips and the drug starts to affect your memory and mental health. But taken a small amount of times? Well, it can open you mind and make you experience pretty amazing things…
