As it seems to do every so often, the internet is ‘breaking’. This time it’s all down to Kanye West (again). News very recently began spreading that the rapper was due to record a full album of cover versions from the back catalog of UK pop idol David Bowie. The 69 year-old died earlier this month and news was – Kanye was eager to pay tribute. And it seriously p*ssed Bowie fans off!
As soon as the news broke in the British media, a petition was set up (of course it was…). A dude called ‘Peter Piranha‘ encouraged people to sign up, and they did. In their thousands. He’s what Mr. Piranha said about setting up the petition:
“David Bowie was one of the single most important musicians of the 20th and 21st century, it would be a sacrilege to let it be ruined by Kanye West.”
It looks like the story all came from a tweet that Kanye sent:
David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime.

So is there any truth to it? Well, y’all don’t have to worry… Kanye’s not touching any Bowie songs. He’s leaving them unsullied and freeing up time to make his own music. The man himself has confirmed it. See? Check it out:
