When They Shut Off All The Water At Niagra Falls They Expected Dead Bodies, But…

Niagra Falls. A huge waterfall that really is iconic. One of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, it’s a amazing thing to behold. Huge endless gushes and torrents of water flow without fail. But back in 1969? It ran dry…

Don’t worry, it wasn’t a drought or an act of God. Engineers intentionally restricted water flow and allowed it to trickle dry. Over three days in June ’69, the US Army Corps of Engineers drained the waterfall and investigate the geological composition of the falls.

The long history of the place being a suicide hotspot worried many. It would be corpses galore, surely? How many did they find down there?

Two! Just two.

Check out a few pictures of the incredible feat and witness exactly what one of the world’s largest waterfalls looks like when it’s ‘turned off’…
