Karawang, West Java. An Indonesian pop star was bitten by a King Cobra during a live performance and later died in hospital. 29 year-old Irma Blue was in the middle of the show and – as part of the act – a cobra joined her onstage. But the snake was agitated and reared up on the singer, biting her on the leg. She continued the show, but fell ill shortly afterwards, later dying in hospital in what has become a tragic accident.
“The accident happened in the middle of the second song when Irma stepped on the snake’s tail,” a member of the crowd, Ferlando Octavion Auzura, told local website merdeka.com. “The snake then bit Irma on the thigh,” they went on.
Blue thought that the deadly snake had been defanged and so refused to stop the gig, carrying on for the remainder of the show. Afterwards, she became delirious and began vomitng. Indonesian police are, understandably, investigating the incident.
