In what might be the biggest shock in the history of the UFC, the ‘unbeatable’ powerhouse of women’s mixed martial arts Ronda Rousey was knocked out in devastating fashion by her opponent on Saturday night, Holly Holm. Few saw it coming, but it could well spell the end of Rousey’s time as a fighter, we’ll have to wait and see. Unless a rematch is on the cards, of course.
The huge roundhouse kick from Holm clocked her out cold and it’s emerged that Rousey need to be hospitalized afterwards. Something which delighted her nemesis, the professional bore-boxer, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
Ronda is thought to have suffered from concussion, a fractured jaw from the knockout and needed to have her lip stitched.
Celebs took to Twitter to react to the bout, few with any sympathy for the former champ. But, as expected, it was Mayweather who came out with the most vociferous criticism, claiming to be ‘happy’.
Mayweather reportedly said, “That’s what she gets for not touching gloves before the fight.” ‘Money’ was also heard to say, “That’s what she gets for talking sh*t…”
There had been no love lost before the fight with Rousey calling him a ‘woman beater’ and claiming that she would ‘kick his a** in the ring’.
Floyd countered that ‘she looks like a dude, doesn’t fight talented opponents and doesn’t belong on the cover of Ring Boxing Magazine.’ He also taunted her with this missive: “Call me when you make $300 million in 36 minutes like I do.”
Floyd even roped in his old pal 50 Cent to taunt Rousey for him…
