Khasanky, Eastern Russia. Now, we all know that Russian people like the odd drink. Every now and again. Okay, maybe a little more than that. And in pretty significant amounts. But, hey – they can take it. If you’ve ever seen a Russian guy drink vodka, you’ll know. We’ll let them off, it’s a cold country, the odd nip warms you up. But epic drinking can backfire. Just ask the Russian guy who woke up in a MORGUE because of it!
The guy was at a party with his friends, the kind of party that lasts for days. In the deepest depths of ice cold Russia, there’s little else to amuse you, so big parties become the go-to thing. Unfortunately one unnamed man recently got too excited and began downing vodka shots at an incredible pace. And collapsed. Medics were called and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Transported to the local morgue, the man was put in the freezer to await an autopsy to officially decide on the cause of death. But then something incredible happened… He woke up.
Local newspaper Khasanskiye Vesti, interviewed police spokesman Aleksey Stoyev, who said this of the bizarre incident:
“That night the local morgue was totally filled to its capacity, the bodies were not only on the shelves, but also on the floor of the freezer room. It was very dark and cold and his brain was foggy due to the influence of alcohol. In the darkness, he felt someone’s completely cold limbs and in fear rushed to the door.”
Authorities then questioned the man, while he warmed up. His memory was – understandably – pretty limited, but he helped them the best he could. And, in true Russian style, when he was released from custody, what do you think he done? You got it… He went straight back to the party and carried on drinking!
