UFC Signs Undefeated Teen Karate Champion And It’s Not Hard To See Why

Meet Sage Northcutt. If you don’t know the name, you will soon enough because he’s definitely one to watch. After winning five consecutive fights in a row, the MMA karate and kickboxing champion caught the eye of the UFC, who signed the 19 year old on the spot after being impressed with his record. Despite having only turned pro last year, Northcutt caught the attention of the UFC after his last bout, which saw him force Rocky Long to tap out last Friday in Houston, Texas.

It’s no surprise that this impressive fighter has found his way so quickly to the UFC. He started training at the tender age of just five years old, and by the age of eight he’d earned a black belt in karateka. Amateur glory followed, with championship wins in the disciplines of both karate and kickboxing, before the professional circuit beckoned when he was just eighteen. Since then, Northcutt hasn’t been taken past the first round in all but two of his bouts.

With a record as impressive as that, there’s no wonder that this young bruiser has found his way so quickly to the UFC. You’ll be able to see him in all his glory in UFC 192 next month. Until then, check out this early footage of Northcutt in action:
