When Conor McGregor steps into a UFC ring, the world stops for a few minutes. All eyes are on him, as one of the biggest sporting stars on the planet. It was an evening of surprise results as Miesha Tate shocked Holly Holm on the undercard to be crowned the new women’s bantamweight champion in another result few predicted. But it was McGregor’s defeat which really gobsmacked viewers.
Diaz has pedigree, but as a last-minute stand-in for Rafael Dos Anjos, no one really thought the Latino hitman stood much of a chance against the Irishman’s devastating arsenal. But McGregor looked uncomfortable for the whole fight, clearly the man’s not suited to welterweight.
