Justin Bieber’s Derogatory Comments About Prince Just Hours After His Death Spark Anger

Don’t speak ill of the dead. It’s a pretty basic and simple rule. But not one that Justin Bieber appears overly familiar with. Only he’s found himself getting plenty of (well-deserved) hate after seemingly throwing shade at Prince. The funk god only passed away yesterday and the world’s been in mourning for the loss of one of music’s most talented ever performers. But that’s not how Bieber sees it…

In a comment left on a fellow musician’s Instagram post, the ‘Sorry’ singer appears to doubt the legacy of Prince. Either that or it’s just a joke in poor taste. Whatever it was, he’s now deleted it.

Andrew Watt called Prince ‘the last of the greatest living performers’ in an emotional tribute, saying ‘his instruments yielded a sexual transcending aura.’ Bieber replied with,  “Well not the last greatest living performer…”

Here’s the original message, a touching tribute, from Andrew Watt…

This past Tuesday night before my show I was picking out an outfit…I was so tired from the past week of endless traveling and gigging that I grabbed my Prince shirt and said fuck it I'm gonna channel the purple one tonight…I didn't shower after the gig out of pure exhaustion…I went to sleep in that shirt and then I wore it again all day yesterday…today waking up to this news I am truly beside myself…devastated…the last of the greatest living performers…my guitar idol…his connection to ALL his instruments yielded a sexual transcending aura and the world is just less fucking cool without him walking on it… "Electric word life It means forever and that's a mighty long time But I'm here to tell you There's something else… The after world" #RIPPRINCE
